MBTA Type 7

I went to college in Boston and always lived near the Green Line. It was here that I really fell in love with streetcars.

I had experienced them to some extent in San Francisco, but because I grew up across the bay in Oakland, I didn't have much day-to-day interaction with them. Riding the Green line every day showed me what a wonder these little trains in the street really are.

Though I have since returned to Oakland, those little green fellows will stick with me for the rest of my life, especially the Kinki Sharyo Type 7. When I was in Boston, these were the most common cars on the Green Line, and their charming exterior combined with the freedom they gave me has endeared them to me forever.

This updated design has low-floors and modern traction, modelled after the trucks from Hiroden's Green Mover Apex streetcars, another Kinki Sharyo product. Its external dimensions are the same as the original Type 7.
